El Hogar: Ilustración Semanal Argentina
Description
An account of the resource
Select articles from the publication El Hogar that offer the history of soccer in Argentina, as well as the origin of association football in England. These pieces are some of the earliest examples of the mythmaking that took pace when recounting the "official origin" of Argentine soccer, which sought to link Argentina to the Old World in a direct way and thus privilege soccer's evolution in Argentina over other areas of South America. This issue of the magazine from 1915 is one of the earliest examples of a soccer-focused magazine publication in Argentina.

Preview of the Argentina-England international friendly at Wembley Stadium
Description
An account of the resource
The match between Argentina and England received significant press in the Buenos Aires Herald - a paper founded by Anglo-Argentines for the English-speaking community of Argentina. This would be the first encounter between both teams, and the national team's first game against a European opponent since the mid-1930s. BAH furthers the narrative established by most of the local news media as an encounter between "masters" and "pupils."
