¿Qué has hecho tú en La Paz, Argentina?
Subject
Report of the ugly incidents between Argentina and Bolivia in a World Cup qualifying match
Description
Great article. The national team coach, Maschio, is fired under pressure from sports reporters who found themselves suddenly limited in their access to the national team (but well within the boundaries for journalists). The interventor of AFA is also dismissed and a new coach (Perdenera) is suddenly hired--with no time to adjust the makeup of the team and few days to train and adjust to the Bolivian altitude. As a result, the team played poorly (and had been plaing poorly in previous matches), which led some (Rattin, Marzolini, Albrecht, Pachamé, Cocco) to resort to punches and hard tackles to vent their frustrations or prevent an embarassing loss. This led to fans throwing objects, Bolivian police intervening (and getting in a few punches and kicks on Argentine players and reporters), and Argentina is one step closer to failing to qualify for the 1970 World Cup.
