During the July 8 meeting between Nicolini and FAA representatives, La Nación reports that a phone call took place between the AFA president and another member of Perón's cabinet. What the paper could now report was that the other cabinet member, Dr. Cereijo, offered to mediate the dispute and bring and end to the strike. The mediation by Cereijo worked. Players agreed to end their strike with assurances that AFA and FAA representatives would specifically address the key concerns by players.
