Evita called on Dr. Rodolfo Valenzuela, head of the COA (Comité Olímpico Argentino), to address the concerns of working-class athletes (los deportistas descamisados) in order to align with the president's mission to further social justice, economic independence, and the spiritual and physical health of the nation. She cited the construction of a new velodrome for cycling (a sport she characterized as the sport of the working masses) and a new olympic stadium as evidence of the president´s commitment to the nation's well being thorugh sport. [These projects were part of Argentina's bid to host to 1st Pan-American Games in 1951]
