Title
Independiente superó a San Lorenzo 9 a 1
Subject
Match ends in player and fan violence, involving police action
Description
The match ended 9 to 1, but devolved into a very harsh and physical game, leading to anti-sports mentality. As far as the ugly incidents at the end of the game: “mejor es olvidarlo”. Players tackled violently, several were expelled, and bottles and gas canisters thrown. "...lo que debio ser orgullo del futbol argentinopaso a ser una pagina negra. El arbitro 'fomenta el disturbio, crea el desorden, destrosa el partido, arruina la fiesta'”. The field was red not only with the colors of the champions, but also red from embarrassment for everything that occurred; “fair play” and sports were absent. The officials of San Lorenzo (losers) opened up an investigation into the nasty style of play that was employed which led to many injuries, and also blamed the referee for losing control of the match.
