Subject

Scottish press and players blast the physical play of Rácing in Argentina

Description

Accounts from Scottish players and journalists criticize the sporting environment in Buenos Aires as a projectile hit Celtic keeper Ronnie Simpson and significantly more fouls took place. The Scottish press, in particular, was livid. Scots viewed the game as an embarrassment, aggression they didn’t deserve, and some expressed a degree of fear but wanted to honor their obligation to play. Coach Jock Stein labeled Rácing as a team that played “No football”, and that his players were not accustomed to plan this way.
