Unlike 1958, where each match was seen as an embarassment by Argentines (see sidebar--or maybe by 1962 they stopped believing in an inherent superiority), this final match against Hungary was well received in the press. Argentina did not advance on goal differential, losing to powerhouse England and drawing with the eventual runner up Hungary.
