While it was perhaps not surprising that all fútbol activities stopped when Eva Perón died in 1952, it is telling that AFA ordered the suspension of all activities on the first anniversary of her death–demonstrating either the level of intervention by the government in fútbol affairs, or the extent by which AFA believed that a close association with the Perón government ultimately helped the association of club teams.
