La FIFA aplicó sanciones al fútbol argentino; Sombría perspectiva; Estupor sin disipar; Lorenzo: severas críticas al árbitro
Subject
Various articles on Argentina facing possible sanctions from FIFA
Description
FIFA sanctions and fines Argentine football, suspending Rattin four games and another three games for Ferreiro & Onega—mostly for trying to attack the referee after the match. FIFA officials propose blocking Argentina's participation in Mexico. Also of note: coverage in the Spanish press that says “Argentina did not deserve to lose although they did not employ a tactic designed to win (Marca)”; the referee was bad and did not understand the Argentine players. The referee decided the match in favor of England. While another article humorously notes that the English also blamed the referee—"what a coincidence!" Argentine head coach Lorenzo criticizes FIFA for choosing a referee from a country still challenging for the Cup when other options were available.
