Description
AFA president Colombo proposes match betting, "toto-calcio" as it is called in Italy, to help raise revenue in light of declining attendance and club debts. This idea resurfaces a decade later under Valentín Suárez. The magazine sees this as a move away from the spirit of sportsmanship. In a follow-up article, the magazine ponders who benefits from match betting (i.e. not the fans or the "purity" of the sport in Argentina, unlike the crass commercialization in England and Italy).
