Nestor Ruiz states that Europeans do not take Argentine soccer seriously, they don’t know how to play (aka, they don’t win.) If Europeans find an Argentine team that is unorganized and unprofessional, they logically assume that Argentina itself is unorganized...not to be taken seriously. But as we know, continues Ruiz, fútbol in and of itself is not the nation, and there is no merit such European attitudes towards Argentine players. It’s the Europeans who conflate soccer and the nation.
