Fútbol: los invasores

Title

Fútbol: los invasores

Subject

A critical assessment of the recent surge of Uruguayan players in Argentina

Description

Citing several skeptics who do not understand what values Uruguayan players offer that Argentine do not, the article's title suggests an "invasion" of foreign elements in the sport. This is interesting because in the era of "fútbol espectáculo" many Brazilians, Chileans, and Paraguayans also arrived. So why the problem with Uruguayans? Most likely it is the historically close ties across the Rio de la Plata that bred a sense of familiarity, which in turn produced this question in people's minds of "why Uruguayans?". (Sanfillippo is an Argentine who left to play at Nacional in Montevideo, which was seen a sign of success--perplexing.)
